Princess Augusta Sophia, George III’s second daughter, was not going to be outdone by her elder sister: in the same year that Princess Charlotte produced her study of Minerva,  Augusta Sophia mastered the art of etching to copy the work of none other than Leonardo da Vinci. She was clearly pleased with her version of this masterpiece, signing it twice with the monogram ‘AS’, once on the lower left and once on the lower right.
