1857

Hand coloured photograph | 22.6 x 18.2 cm (image) | RCIN 2909980

She copied the composition from a photograph of the play’s performance, in which the actress Kate Terry played a boy, dressed in tunic, tights and a little cape. Rather than copying the photograph exactly, Alice adapted Terry’s pose, depicting her in profile with delicate, Pre-Raphaelite features.
