Legacy

The 1686 publication proved extremely popular, and versions were printed in Gaelic, Welsh, French, Portuguese, Marathi and Hindi. The success of the first edition also led to a reprint of the book in 1884, entitled More Leaves from the Journal of a Life in the Highlands.
