King Rama IV’s ambassadors brought examples of traditional gold-working and enamelling techniques which had flourished at the Siamese court for centuries. This water flask is densely decorated with foliage in red and green enamel.

It was sent to Queen Victoria by King Rama IV of Siam (King Mongkut) and presented by his ambassadors at Windsor Castle on 19 November 1857.
