Lavall, Count Nugent (1777–1862) was a member of the nobility of the Austrian empire and an officer in the imperial service. He served widely across Europe in the opening decades of the nineteenth century and in 1812 visited England to discuss foreign policy in Italy. In April that year he presented the Prince Regent (later George IV) with this sword and scabbard from Ottoman Turkey.
