A Persian sabre with an ivory pistol grip divided by steel panel with gilt foliage decoration, ensuite to pommel cap. The grip base is bound with brown leather and fitted with a wrist strap. The crossguard is similarly decorated to pommel and terminates in circular finials. It has a back-edged steel blade.

The sabre is from the collection of George IV. It was recorded in the Armoury at Carlton House with the note, 'A very Old Persian Sword made at Karataban, a famous place for Swords - very Excellent and in high preservation.'
