The poem inscribed on this hand-painted paper celebrates The Queen’s visit to Korea in 1999, which coincided with her 73rd birthday. It reads:

Your Majesty from a far-away land of roses and whose grace exceeds those of the roses / We thank you for visiting Ha-Fae in Andong, a renowned and respected place of loyalty and hospitality in the east / The spring shines brighter with joy and light / We congratulate you as you celebrate your 73rd birthday here and wish you a long life

It was presented to Queen Elizabeth II by Mr Ryu Young-ha on the occasion of her State Visit to South Korea in 1999.
