This portrait of a young woman carrying a pitcher of water was probably drawn after a photograph. Christopher Adams contributed six miniature works to the Dolls’ House, all of Middle Eastern subjects. His brother Marcus was commissioned by George VI to photograph his young daughters, Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret. Several of these photographs, with hand-colouring added by Christopher, are in the Royal Collection.
