1966 Christmas Broadcast

1966 was the final year that the Christmas broadcast was transmitted in black and white. From the minimalist surroundings of a table on which lay a book, Queen Elizabeth II spoke of the changing role of women in society, saying: “In the modern world the opportunities for women to give something of value to the human family are far greater than ever, because, through their own efforts, they are now beginning to play their full part in public life.”
