This writing table was made for the residence of Charles-Philippe, comte d'Artois (1757-1836) at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in 1796. The Edinburgh firm of Young, Trotter and Hamilton renovated the State Apartments and supplied a collection of new mahogany furniture. The elegant style of this furniture was similar to that supplied to the residents of Edinburgh's stylish New Town. Supplied to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in 1796
