This scene, set in the medieval Old Town of Edinburgh, depicts the Lawnmarket, near the top of the Royal Mile. On the right can be seen the demolition of the Weigh House, a fourteenth-century building used to weigh butter and cheese, which was removed in 1822 to make way for the procession of George IV to Edinburgh Castle.
