Vase flacon à chainons

RCIN 36111

The left hand vase depicts the same scene, Le Bon Père, as the single vase hollandois in the centre of the display. However the vase falcon à chainons depicts all five figures of the original Teniers painting. The other vase falcon uses the Teniers pendant painting, Le Bon Mari. Both paintings were reproduced as engravings by Jacques-Philippe Le Bas in November 1735, and copies of both survive in the Sèvres archive. First recorded in the Royal Collection at Carlton House in 1826; the inventory notes the ‘compartments of Dutch Figures regaling.’
