WILLIAM WESTALL (1781-1850)

The South Front, Carlton House

RCIN 922169

The garden façade of Carlton House was open and domestic in character, with French windows on two floors and no feature comparable to the imposing portico on the courtyard façade. George IV's Dutch paintings were all hung in rooms looking over the garden; the interiors illustrated here were on the first or 'State' floor.
