The Interior of a Peasant's Cottage

In this interior Ostade combines the comedy of rustic simplicity with the lighting and meticulous finish of Gerrit Dou. The painting makes us wonder that a cottage could hold so much and that an artist could have the skill and patience to record it so faithfully.
