The Interior of a Kitchen with an Old Woman Peeling Turnips

RCIN 405945

George IV made no distinction between Dutch and Flemish art or between depictions of high and low life. He admired fine detail and a lively handling of the brush wherever he found it. This Flemish peasant scene hung at Carlton House with Dutch paintings of similar subject and technique. Acquired by George IV in 1814
