Privy Purse Papers to 1910

Queen Victoria's Privy Purse ledgers©

The catalogues currently available for the records of the Privy Purse are those relating to expenditure by Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and Edward VII. These collections include accounting records in the form of abstracts, ledgers and journals, related correspondence, invoices, receipts and bank pass books for Privy Purse and other personal and special accounts. For the reign of Queen Victoria in particular, the records provide an insight into payments for items from the most ephemeral to important works of art which are still in the care of the Royal Collection, as well as pensions and allowances, charitable donations to individuals and organisations and subscriptions to royal patronages.

The Privy Purse papers also include nominations to office and regiments and for the reign of Edward VII records relating to the administration of Tradesmen's Warrants and recipients of Edward VII's Coronation Medal.

The income from your ticket contributes directly to The Royal Collection Trust, a registered charity. The aims of The Royal Collection Trust are the care and conservation of the Royal Collection, and the promotion of access and enjoyment through exhibitions, publications, loans and educational activities.
