Majolica Mania
13 March – 7 August 2022

This exhibition studies the considerable impact which the colourful, imaginative and innovative ceramic innovation of the mid-nineteenth century, majolica, had on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Loaned from the Royal Collection is a design by the architect and sculptor John Thomas for the interior of the Royal Dairy in Windsor Home Park, the fittings of which included majolica tiles and fountains for cooling the room temperature, and one of a set of five majolica jardinieres and stands decorated with lilies, which may have been a Golden Jubilee gift to Queen Victoria.
