The Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) is hosting an exhibition celebrating the Devon lace industry during the 19th and early 20th centuries. By Royal Appointment focusses on the lace-makers and manufacturers who supplied lace for the Royal wardrobe, particularly wedding lace.

The exhibition showcases the work of well-known East Devon manufacturers including Exeter-based Charlotte Treadwin, Esther Clarke and the Wards of Honiton and John Tucker of Branscombe, all of whom were commissioned by the Royal Family.  Queen Victoria’s association with the Devon lace industry is explored in particular focus.  The exhibition is open to the public until the 31st May.
