Rosa Bonheur at Musée d'Orsay [Paris]

Rosa Bonheur

18th October 2022-15th January 2023

To mark the bicentenary of the birth of Rosa Bonheur (1822-1899), the Musée d'Orsay have organised a major retrospective of her work. A true icon of women's liberation, Rosa Bonheur competed with the greatest masters of the animal painting genre, long reserved for men, and was committed to the recognition of animals in their uniqueness. A Lion’s Head, lent by the Royal Collection is a fine example of Bonheur’s great technical mastery, showcasing her ability to render both the anatomy and the psychology of animals. The exhibition transferred from Bordeaux, and will be on display in Paris until 15 January 2023.
