The Musée de Flandre, Cassel, is marking the anniversary of the death of Pieter Bruegel the Elder in 1569 with this exhibition devoted to fairs, festivals and dances in Flemish painting of the 16th and 17th centuries. A Flemish Fair by Jan Brueghel the Elder, from the Royal Collection, is a magnificent depiction of a street party held to celebrate a religious festival. It will be shown alongside more than one hundred paintings, engravings, drawings and musical instruments, highlighting the connections between art, literature and music.
