The Renaissance Nude: 1400–1530 at J Paul Getty Museum [Los Angeles]

Detail from Raphael's The Three Graces
The Three Graces ©

This exhibition focuses on depictions of the nude during the Renaissance. Loans from the Royal Collection consist of an anatomical drawing by Leonardo da Vinci, a virtuoso red chalk drawing of three of the Labours of Hercules by Michelangelo, and a preparatory drawing for decorations at the Villa Farnesina in Rome in which Raphael has drawn the same female model in three different poses on the same sheet. The exhibition will transfer to The Royal Academy of Arts in London and will be on display from 3 March until 2 June 2019.
