Brothers Wilhelm and Alexander von Humboldt are known for their pioneering educational, scientific, philosophical and linguistic achievements. This exhibition at the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin assesses their ideas and accomplishments against contemporaneous political social and scientific events.

Sir Thomas Lawrence's powerful portrait of Wilhelm von Humboldt, on loan from the Royal Collection, underlines the sitter's diplomatic and political achievements, as Prussian representative at the Congress of Vienna. The exhibition is on display until April 2020.
