This exhibition at Compton Verney in Warwickshire presents a survey of some of the most iconic images of children from British collections from 1500 to the present day. Included in the display are twenty-two works from the Royal Collection showcasing, in particular, the rich and varied ways in which the likenesses of royal children have been recorded over the last five hundred years. Highlights of this loan include a group portrait of the five eldest children of Charles I, painted by Sir Anthony Van Dyck, and an intimate series of drawings and etchings by Queen Victoria providing a fascinating record of everyday activities in the royal nursery.
