Il Corpo e l'Anima da Donatello a Michelangelo: scultura italiana del Rinascimento
Body and Soul: Italian Renaissance Sculpture from Donatello to Michelangelo
, 21 July - 24 October 2021

This exhibition will bring together major sculptures from the Italian Renaissance and will also show the impact of sculptural concepts in the arts of painting and drawing. The three drawings on loan from the Royal Collection each embody different ways of thinking about three-dimensional form – the Signorelli shows a fully-rounded figure group, the Santi depicts a low relief, and the Michelangelo demonstrates a heavily-muscled figure with proportions indicated as a teaching aid. The exhibition was first shown at the Musée du Louvre, Paris and will remain on display at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan until 24 October 2021.
