Newly-renovated Auckland Castle in County Durham, which reopens to the public in October 2019, has been chosen as the last of three UK venues to host the National Gallery's painting, The Triumph of Pan by Nicolas Poussin, as part of the annual National Gallery Masterpiece Tour.

In order to explore the French artist's unique working methods, three preparatory drawings for The Triumph of Pan have been lent by Her Majesty The Queen, and will be on public display beside the painting for the first time, until 5th January 2020.
