To mark the 50th anniversary of The Queen’s Accession in 2002, a Golden Jubilee Portfolio of photographic portraits of Her Majesty was commissioned. Ten prominent photographers from Britain and the Commonwealth, including John Swannell, Fiona Hanson, Lord Snowdon, Rankin and Polly Borland, were invited to photograph The Queen. Each was given just five minutes to take their pictures. This is Polly Borland’s portrait of The Queen – a striking head-and-shoulders view set against a gold background to symbolise the
Golden Jubilee.
