Pair of large vases, part of a garniture celebrating the defeat of French forces by the Prussians at Dennewitz in 1813. Flared lip and socle, scrolled handles and mounted on square metal plinth. Painted in gilt and blue with rectangular reserves to the front, one with a mounted officer leading a bayonet charge and the second with soldiers reviewing the battlefield.
Provenance
Part of a garniture presented to Queen Victoria in honour of the baptism of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales by his godfather, King Frederick William IV. The baptism took place at Windsor on 25 January 1842.
