In 1997 The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh paid State Visits to Pakistan and India to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Independence.
During their visit to India, The Queen and Prince Philip visited Amritsar in the Punjab, site of the the Sikh Golden Temple. There, they were presented with this painted and gilded wooden model of the temple by the President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee.Provenance
