A pen and ink and watercolour drawing of a hunch-backed man in conversation with an elderly woman in a large bonnet. Inscribed below, 'A Sceine in Brook St. Grosvenor Square or the Little Lord's hopes Blasted' and on the verso 'Lord Kircubright and Miss Middleton of Churk Castle in Denbighshire - An occurrence that took place, lately, in upper Brook St P.S'. The drawing shows Sholto Henry Maclennan, 9th Lord Kirkcudbright (b. 1729), the subject of satire from 1797-1800 as a hunch-backed fop, pressing his attentions on Miss Myddelton, who had succeeded to Chirk Castle and a considerable property in 1796. In 1801 she married Robert Biddulph of Hereford and Worcester.
