A pencil and wash drawing of a female figure seated in a chair at a table, next to a window, sewing. Some use of red chalk in the flowered dress. Inscribed below on the modern mount, 'Industry', a modern addition that did not come from an earlier mount or inscription. Sandby made several studies of female figures in profile knitting, sewing or reading (RCINs 914424, 914427, 914382).
