A portrait drawing of the actor William Penkethman in character as Don Lewis in Love Makes a Man by Colley Cibber (1701). Another version of this drawing is in the British Museum. George IV purchased this work to add to his extra-illustrated History of the Stage, a set of volumes pasted with prints and drawings of famous actors, arranged in chronological order to illustrate the history of the theatre. Although these volumes were broken up after George's death, the contents remain in the Royal Collection.
