A watercolour portrait of a young woman, wearing coral jewellery and a black feathered headpiece. Signed with initials in monogram.
The Swiss-born Albert Edward Chalon grew up and worked in England after his father was appointed to a post at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. Chalon became a society portrait painter, and made portraits of the Duchess of Kent and other members of the royal family. Chalon also served as Painter in Watercolours to Queen Victoria. The identity of this sitter is unknown.Provenance
