A photograph of a drawing in the Devonshire collection (inv. no.150), attributed to Giovanni Francesco Penni, which is considered a preparatory drawing for the almost entirely destroyed fresco The Resurrection painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the basamento of the thirteenth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican. Not in Ruland (1876). For another photograph of this drawing, see RCIN 853700.
According to Dacos (see Bibliographic References), the basamento paintings of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican were executed in grisaille and imitated bronze reliefs.Provenance
