A lithograph reproducing the fresco The fall of Jericho by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the vault of the tenth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican. Lettered with names of Ludwig Gruner, Consoni and Raphael, and with publication details. Stamped with a blind stamp at lower right (possibly the publisher's blind stamp; not in Lugt). Arched top. Proof state before title. Published in Scripture prints from the frescoes of Raphael in the Vatican. Edited by Lewis Gruner. With an introductory preface by the Rev. Charles H.H. Wright, London 1866.
Passavant (see Bibliographic References) noted that the lithographs in this publication, made from drawings by Nicola Consoni (1814-84) of the frescoes, were made 'in the manner of woodcuts'.Provenance
