A photograph of a drawing in the Louvre, Paris (inv.no.3849), which is squared up in black chalk and considered the modello by Raphael for the composition of the fresco Moses receives the Tablets of the Law painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the vault of the eighth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican.
Joannides (1983) considers this drawing the only surviving modello in Raphael's hand for the loggia; Dacos (2008; see Bibliographic References) attributes the drawing (and the major part of the execution of the fresco itself) to Perino del Vaga.Provenance
