A photograph of a pen and bistre wash drawing now in the Royal Library, Windsor Castle (RCIN 911998). The drawing closely resembles the fresco of God creating Sun and Moon painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the vault of the first bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican. Ruland (1876) catalogues this drawing as being a study from the fresco by N. Poussin. See also RCIN 911998.
The Louvre holds another copy (with some variants) of the figure of God from this fresco which was previously also attributed to Poussin (see Bibliographic References).Provenance
Acquired for the Prince Consort's Raphael Collection (c.1853-76)
