A print reproducing the fresco of The Victory at Ostia painted on the east wall of the Stanza dell'Incendio in the Vatican. Lettered with artists' names, publisher's address and text in Latin along the lower margin. Numbered at lower right: 16. From Picturae Raphaelis Sanctij Urbinatis ex Aula et Conclavibus Palatij Vaticani..., a series of 18 plates (plus title-page) after Raphael's frescoes in the Vatican published in 1722. The publishing date is to be found on the title-page of the series.
The fresco is now generally thought to have been designed by Raphael, but his direct involvement in the execution is subject of much debate.Provenance
