A photograph of the verso of a drawing now in the Kunstmuseum in Düsseldorf (inv. no.F.P. 11v). The drawing is generally thought to be a preparatory study (by Raphael or one of his pupils) for the fresco of The Coronation of Charlemagne, painted in the Stanza dell'Incendio in the Vatican in c.1516-17. The study connects with a seated bishop depicted in the left background of the fresco, and with two deacons taking part in the coronation ceremony.
