A photograph of a drawing by Raphael (c.1508-09) now in the Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe degli Uffizi, Florence (inv. no.1342F). The drawing is a study for the male saint holding the palm branch with his head turned upwards, seated at the left hand of Jesus in the fresco of the Disputa (The Disputation of the Holy Sacrament), painted by Raphael in the Stanza della Segnatura in the Vatican between 1508 and 1511. Ruland (1876) interpreted the figure as St Lawrence, but it is now generally identified as St Stephen.
