An engraving by Agostino Veneziano depicting a woman and a man holding hands, after a drawing by Raphael (Bartsch, Passavant) or Giulio Romano (Massari). This is the first state of the print, without the publisher's name (Antonio Salamanca). According to Bartsch, this print was initially attributed to Marcantonio. Trimmed within the platemark.
The head of the man in this print has been related to the figure of the Androcles in the print The Emperor freeing the slave Androcles by Agostino Veneziano (see Bibliographic References).Provenance
