A lithograph after a painting then in the collection of Sig. Pietro Fumaroli, Rome (formerly in the Palazzo Colonna, Marino).
An original panel by Perugino of this composition is believed to have existed and has been variously identified with one of the several extant versions. The composition corresponds closely to the central motif of the Virgin and Child in the Decemviri Altarpiece, a work by Perugino now in the Pinacoteca Vaticana, Vatican City (inv. no.224). Lettered with production details and title.
Showing the seated Virgin supporting the Christ Child with both hands, who stands on her lap and clutches at her bodice; in a landscape.Provenance
