Head of a Youth c.1853-76
Albumen print | 18.5 x 15.5 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 850962
-
A photograph of a drawing now in the Kupferstichkabinett, Berlin (inv. no.Kdz 4198).
Ruland (1876) attributed the drawing to Raphael and associated it with the figure of the Archangel Raphael in the so-called Madonna del Pesce, a painting by Raphael and his workshop (c.1513-4) now in the Museo del Prado, Madrid (inv. no.297). It has been suggested that the drawing may be by Mariotto Albertinelli, and related to his large Annunciation now in the Accademia in Florence (see A. Weston-Lewis in Raphael. The Pursuit of Perfection, 1994, under no.29). A photograph of the Madonna del Pesce can be found at RCIN 850952.
