This engraving is a reworked state of a print by Marco Dente related to the so-called Madonna del Pesce, a painting by Raphael and his workshop (c.1513-14) now in the Museo del Prado, Madrid. Signed with initials on tablet at lower left: MAF, and lettered with Salamanca's address. Not included in Ruland's Raphael Collection catalogue (1876). Showing the enthroned Virgin holding the Christ Child with both hands, with the Archangel Raphael presenting the young Tobias who kneels down while holding a fish on the left, and St Jerome with an open book and his lion on the right.Provenance
