A photograph of a drawing by Raphael now in the Devonshire Collection, Chatsworth House (inv. no.723B) The drawing is after Michelangelo’s Taddei Tondo, a circular relief sculpture now housed in the Royal Academy of Arts, London. Ruland (1876) did not describe this drawing as a copy after Michelangelo and associated it with Raphael’s Bridgewater Madonna (c.1507) currently on loan to the National Gallery of Scotland, Edinburgh (inv. no.NGL 065.46) from the Duke of Sutherland Collection.
This drawing is on the verso of a sheet depicting studies for the Madonna of the Meadow, see RCIN 850715 for a photograph of the recto.Provenance
