An etching depicting John Henderson in the character of Falstaff in Act 4 Scene 6 of the Merry Wives of Windsor. This is a plate to John Bell's edition of Shakespeare. The original drawing by Ramberg is in the British Museum.
In this image, Falstaff is holding a letter sent to him by the Merry Wives. They are inviting him to meet them at Herne's Oak in Windsor Park. He thinks it will be a romantic liaison, but the wives are actually planning to have their revenge.
