  • An Asiatic knife or dagger with a wood handle carved in the form of a stylised bird fitted with a gold-capped chased pommel, the gold ferule chased with scrolling foliate/diaper border. Steel back-edged blade with pierced top section. Carved wood sheath part-cased with gold with chased diaper and foliate decoration. Of the type known as a sekin or tumbok lada.
    Provenance

    Presented to King George V by the seventh Yang di-Pertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhammad Shah ibni Almarhum Tuanku Antah, ruler of the Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan, in July 1925 (WC Nrth Corr 2458). 

    According to the Court Circular in The Times, 'The Yang di Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, accompanied by Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Laxamana [Laksamana], was received by His Majesty' at Buckingham Palace on 10 July 1925.  It may have been on this occasion that the kris was presented.
