Engraving of Charles Edward Stuart as prince. Three quarter length with tied wig, plain tie, armour, order on ribbon, sash over left shoulder and mantle over right. Standing with left hand on hip and with right resting on a helmet, holding a baton. With columns and landscape in the background. Without inscription.
This elegant image of the ‘Young Pretender’ was the official print made after Domenico Duprà’s oil portrait and was intended for circulation among Jacobite supporters in Britain. Daullé was royal engraver to Louis XV. He was responsible for the Prince’s head while his colleague Wille engraved the rest of the plate.
