A set of nine large hybrid paste porcelain plates with a gilt rim, the white ground decorated overall with exotic, richly coloured 'Japan' patterns of stylised floral sprays and blossoms.
Provenance
Part of a dinner service, known as the Harlequin Service, commissioned by George IV when Prince of Wales, 1807. Part delivered in 1811 and finally in October 1816. The total order invoiced at more than £4,000.
