A set of four soft-paste bone ash porcelain porcelain tureens and covers of bombé oval form, a large handle of four joined scrolls on domed cover and upturned scroll handles on tureen; each with four reserves of Mazarine blue, gilt insects, floral swags; exotic birds on tureen.
Provenance
Part of a similarly decorated dinner and dessert service, known as the Mecklenberg Service, commissioned by King George III and Queen Charlotte, by whom presented to her brother, Adolphus Frederick IV, Duke of Mecklenberg-Strelitz in 1764. By descent until 1919; Sir Joseph Duveen: James Oakes by whom presented to Queen Elizabeth for her Silver Wedding anniversary, 1947.
