A set of 24 silver gilt verrières, each with two beak spouts cast with mermen, the straight sides are cast with panels in low relief depicting Jupiter and Ganymede on one side and Hebe with a hippocamp on the other, on a matted ground.
Provenance
Eighteen of these verrières were purchased by George IV, when Regent, in June 1811 at a cost of £632 0s 3d and a further six were purchased in October 1812 for £223 15s 4d. Of the set, all supplied by Rundell, Bridge & Rundell, twelve date from 1805 and are marked by Digby Scott and Benjamin Smith. The other twelve are marked by Digby Scott and James Smith - six date from 1810/11 and six from 1812/13.
